Samite is a blend of 30% Bluefaced Leicester, 40% Shetland, 20% Ahimsa silk (Ahimsa silk is one of the few ways of obtaining silk humanely), and 10% Gotland from Sue Blacker's own flock.
This very special woollen spun yarn is available in fifteen shades including Aspen's Shiver which is undyed.
A few people have asked about the weight of Samite. I would describe the yarn as a heavy laceweight or a light 4 ply yarn.
It would be amazing in shawls with some open work or in a light garment. The 40% Shetland in the blend gives the yarn a lovely bounce while the silk gives the yarn a lovely drape.
