BritYarn's Terms and Conditions

Our terms and conditions explain what you agree to when you use and / or shop with BritYarn.  

Please read them carefully. By accessing or using any part of the site, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to all the terms and conditions of this agreement, then you may not access the website or use any services.

This website is owned and operated by BritYarn. The site, the terms “we”, “us” and “our” refer to BritYarn. BritYarn offers this website, including all information, tools and services available from this site to you, the user, conditioned upon your acceptance of all terms and conditions stated here.  These terms apply  to all users of the site, including without limitation users who are browsers, vendors, customers, merchants, and/ or contributors of content.

Your status

By placing an order through our site you agree that you are at least the age of majority in your country, state, province of residence and you are legally capable of entering into binding contacts.

You may not use our products for any illegal or unauthorised purpose nor may you, in the use of the accessing and using this site, violate any laws (including but not limited to copyright laws).

You must not transmit any worms or viruses or any code of a destructive nature.

A breach or violation of any of the Terms will result in an immediate termination of your contract.


We will not disclose any of your personal information to a third party unless required to do so by law.

Product Descriptions and Images

Information on this website and BritYarn’s blog is for guidance only.

BritYarn will ensure that product descriptions, pricing and images are as accurate as possible.  We reserve the right to correct any errors, inaccuracies or omissions, and to change or update information or cancel orders if any information is inaccurate at any time without prior notice (including after you have submitted your order).

Due to variations in monitor settings the colour you see may not match the actual colour of the wool.

Wool weights, measurements and fibre content are approximate and are based on the suppliers / dyers specifications.

Due to the processes involved in dyeing wool by hand we nor the dyer cannot guarantee identical skeins of wool.  

Orders consisting of multiple milled dyed wool will be be sent balls consisting of the same dye lot.

Order Confirmation / Order Acceptance

Upon placing an order you will be sent an email acknowledging that BritYarn has received your order.  

This does not mean your order has been accepted.  All orders are subject to acceptance by us.  

Acceptance will be confirmed through an email advising you that your order has been dispatched.  The contract between you and BritYarn will only be entered into upon dispatch of your order.


Your payment is managed and authorised by Sage Pay.  As a result BritYarn will never see or store your financial details.  

No goods will be dispatched until payment has cleared.  

Prices and delivery charges are liable to change at any time without notice.  These changes will not affect orders where you have received a dispatch confirmation.

Apologies but we are unable to accept payment by cheque.

Delivery / Shipping

All delivery charges include postage and packaging.  

For orders outside of the UK all parts of the order (products and packaging) will be taken into account to calculate shipping costs.

Orders will be posted Monday to Friday with the exception of Bank Holidays where they will posted the next working day.  

We aim to despatch all orders on the same day or the following day depending on what time the order was received.  However, please be aware on very rare occasions orders may take up to five working days to be dispatched.

Orders will be posted via Royal Mail 1st class unless we advise you otherwise. We cannot accept any responsibility as a result of delays by Royal Mail.



Orders less than £50: £3.50

Orders £50 and over: free of charge


up to and including 500g: Europe £6 Rest of the world £8  

501g and over: Europe £8.00 Rest of the world £13 

Packaging as well as the goods you purchase will be taken into account to calculate the weight of the order.

Missing or Delayed Orders

All UK orders are posted Royal Mail 1st Class and should arrive within 1 - 3 days of being posted.

If a UK parcel hasn't arrived within 3 working days, please check with your sorting office / post office to see if they are holding a parcel for you but haven't left a card. 

EU and international orders are posted via Royal Mail Standard International Small Parcel service (formally Airmail).  European parcels should be received between 3 - 5 days after posting while delivery to the rest of the world is between 5 - 7 days.

While we obtain proof of posting for each parcel this doesn't give us any ability to track your parcel.

Royal Mail will not investigate UK missing packages until 15 working days have passed from the posting date.  BritYarn is unable to offer refunds or replacements for this period. 

European parcels are not considered as missing by the Royal Mail until 20 working days have passed, and for the rest of the world it is 25 working days.  BritYarn is unable to offer refunds or replacements for this period. 

BritYarn cannot be held responsible for missing parcels where the incorrect address has been provided by the customer.

Where an order is returned by Royal Mail undelivered, we will give you the option to have that order resent. There will however be an additional charge for redelivery if an order has not been collected from the sorting office or the wrong address has been provided.

Consumer Rights

You can withdraw your order providing it has not been accepted by BritYarn.  Acceptance and a contract is entered into when BritYarn confirms your order has been dispatched. 

You can cancel your order within 14 days, starting the day after the day on which you received the goods.

If you wish to withdraw or cancel please contact us in writing (by email or post) within the above timescales.  Please provide your name, address, telephone number and order details.

The products must be returned to BritYarn in the same condition as received in order to receive a full refund.  

BritYarn has the right to deduct an amount from the reimbursement if the goods are not in a resalable condition. 

BritYarn will reimburse you by the same payment method used in the original transaction.

It is your responsibility to return the goods back to BritYarn, 1 Masons Court, Crowle, Scunthorpe North Lincolnshire DN17 4GD.  

BritYarn will refund the original postage costs but you will be responsible for the costs of returning the goods to us unless their has been an error by BritYarn or the goods are faulty. 

We strongly recommend that returns are sent via a postal service which insures the contents as proof of postage is not proof of delivery.  

BritYarn cannot be held responsible for any returned goods that are lot or damaged in transit.

Returns & Refunds

In addition to your rights under section ‘Consumer Rights’.

In the event that on receiving your order an item is faulty please contact BritYarn in writing (post or email) within 14 days, starting the day after the day on which you received the goods.

Faulty goods must be retuned in their original packaging to BritYarn, 1 Masons Court, Crowle, Scunthorpe North Lincolnshire DN17 4GD.  Please provide your name, address, telephone number and order details.

We strongly recommend that returns are sent via a postal service which insures the contents as proof of postage is not proof of delivery.  

BritYarn will reimburse delivery costs when returning a faulty product and send a replacement product at no additional cost.

Unfortunately we are unable to offer refunds on patterns and books.

Should you return part of an order where a discount has been applied relating to a multiple buy offer and the multiple offer no longer is applicable then your refund will take this offer into account and a refund will be given accordingly.

Import Duty

If you order from our site for delivery outside the United Kingdom, the parcel may be subject to import duties and taxes which are applied once the delivery reaches the specified destination. You will be responsible for payment of any such import duties and taxes. Please note that we have no control over these charges. If you would like further information please contact your local customs office before placing your order.

Please also note that you must comply with all applicable laws and regulations of the country for which the products are destined. We will not be liable for any breach by you of any such laws.

Written Communications

Regulations require that information or communications regarding your order should be in a clear, comprehensible and on a durable medium. When using our site, you accept that communication with us will be electronic. We will contact you by e-mail or provide you with information by posting notices on our site. For contractual purposes, you agree to this electronic means of communication.
